6 surefire ways to elevate your life.

Deep within each of us, there is an inner longing to live a life of greatness and contribution – to really matter,to make a difference. That inner longing is the urge to live our purpose on earth. We may doubt ourselves and ability to do so but I want you to know of my deep conviction that you can live such a life. You have the potential within you. It’s the birthright of the human family. Living your purpose requires a single mindedness – a resolve to do whatever it takes. It separates the weak from the strong, the procrastinators from the truly committed. It inflames a deep passion and creates a feeling of significance. When your purpose is clear, your life will have meaning. Purposeful work means that you care about something. You don’t feel obligated to perform rather you are passionate about it. At the highest level you are constantly fine tuning your special talents. This creates additional opportunities for you to serve. Your life starts to flow instead of being a series of disjointed events.
We were given magnificent gifts at birth – talents, capacities, privileges, intelligence and opportunities, that would remain largely unopened except through our decision and effort. When people seriously undertake to identify what really matters to them, they become reverent. They think in larger terms than today and tomorrow. They walk with principles, just like nobles. ‘’Back of every noble life, there are principles that have fashioned it’’ says George Lorimer. Did anyone ever tell you that you are nobility. Well take it from me, you sure are. How do I know that? Because you here on this page, seeking knowledge. This article brings that knowledge to your door step in six proven ways that will elevate you to greatness and ensure you stay on the track of purpose. So, lets get the cat out of the bag.

1. Choice: Take a look at this poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
One ship drives east and another west,
With the same self winds that blow.
Tis the set of the sails and not the gail,
That tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,
As we voyage along through life.
Tis the set of a soul,
That decides it’s goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

By implication of this poem, it is the choices you make that determine the direction of your life, irrespective of the circumstance. Between stimulus and response, theres a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose. In those choices lie our growth and happiness. The reason you are where you are is as a result of all the choices you have made to this point. In other words, your consistent positive choices or the lack of them has given you the lifestyle you now have. In making choices, your thoughts are paramount. How powerful are your thought? Remember your dominant thoughts usually win out in every day decisions. Make sure your conscious choices are moving you closer to the completion of your most important goal and happiness. This is sincerely the greatest discovery of our time in human psychology and science of the mind. You can choose to be proactive and live the life of purpose, the life of higher elevation You can as well choose to be reactive and follow the path of least resistance, the easy answer, the obvious reality. Choose purpose that you may live and not just exist.

2. Vision: Another look at an extract from Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carol
‘’one day Alice came to a fork road and a Cheshire cat in a tree
Which road do I take ? She asked.
His response was a question. Which road do you want to go ?
‘’ I don’t know’’ Alice answered
Then said the cat, it doesn’t matter.’’

Moral; if you don’t know where you are going, you may wind up some place else, and it won’t really matter. After you have made a choice to live a life of greatness, you have to carefully think through which way you are headed. You have to see possibilities in that direction. Vision is seeing with the mind’s eye, what is possible with people, projects, causes, and enterprises. Vision results when our mind joins need with possibility. When people have no vision, when they neglect the mind’s capacity to create, they fall prey to the human tendency of victimization. That victimization is mediocrity. I will discuss that in detail in my upcoming article. Albert Einstein once said,’’ imagination is more important than knowledge. Memory is past. it is finite. Vision is future. It is infinite. Vision is greater that history, greater than the baggage, greater than the emotional scars of the past’’. Have you analyzed the direction you will take to achieve your goal, the strategies and the risk. That is what vision entails. Without throwing much emphasis, choice is the ‘’What’’ (what on earth is my purpose ?). Vision is the ‘’where’’ (where am I headed now ?). Have you sat down to ask those questions? Well I have it all figured out in my head. I hear you whisper to my ear. Fine then, I leave you to it. This article is just a reminder incase you have forgotten. I’m only awakening your unconscious man. I hope you don’t mind.

3. Passion: passion is the desire, the strength of conviction and the drive that sustains the vision. Passion arises when human need overlaps unique human talent. Passion comes from the heart and manifests in optimism, excitement, emotional connection and determination. It fires unrelenting drive. ‘’Enthusiasm is deeply rooted in the power of choice says Steven Covey in his book titled The 8TH Habit. Enthusiasm believes that the best way to produce the future is to create it. In fact, enthusiasm becomes a moral imperative, making the person part of the solution rather than part of the problem’’. The key to creating passion in your life is to find your unique talent, your special purpose in this world. Aristotle said, ‘’where talent and the needs of the world cross, therein lies your vocation’’.we could say, therein lies your voice – that which energizes your life and gives you drive. There’s a common misconception that a person’s skill is their talent. Skills however are not talents. Talents on the other hand require skills. People can have knowledge and skill in areas where their talents do not lie. When you can give yourself to work that brings together a need, your talent and passion, your power is ultimately unlocked.
we have addressed the fact that every life has a purpose for it. This is why we have different strengths and weaknesses. In order to keep up to this purpose, there are things we must do. Out of six things we promised to share, we have illustrated three in this piece. The last three will be coming in the next piece. ‘’ I know this now, Every man gives his life to what he believes. Every woman gives her life to what she believes. People believe in little or nothing and so they give their lives to little or nothing’’ says Joan of Arc. And I ask, what do you believe in?
